Joining a Zoom meeting
Please ensure that your name on Zoom is the same name that you have booked your ticket with, or the name you gave when signing up as a member, to ensure seamless entry into the event
Late entry (of more than ten minutes after the start time) will be refused unless you have written to us in advance to let us know that you are running late. You can contact us at events.egyptomania@gmail.com to let us know
Microphones will be muted for the duration of the event, and you will need to request for your microphone to be unmuted
Cameras will be disabled, but you may enable your camera during the meeting.
What to do if you need to re-enter the event:
If your connection drops out during our conferences or lectures, please re-enter the waiting room and contact events.egyptomania@gmail.com
For free, ticketed events, the meeting will be “locked” ten minutes after the start time and we will be unable to allow entry after this point.
Moderation Guidelines
We encourage attendees to use the chat function and to engage in thoughtful considerate, conversation in the chat and during the Q&A session, but we ask all our attendees to adhere to our moderation guidelines below in order to support a welcoming environment:
Raise your hand if you wish to ask a question during the Q&A. Your microphone will be unmuted
Questions, comments and critiques should be offered in good faith. Any personal attacks of speakers or other members, attempts to cause conflict, or any bad-faith questioning will not be tolerated
Racist, xenophobic, sexist, nationalist, homophobic, transphobic or otherwise exclusionary comments, imagery or language will not be tolerated
No swearing or foul language will be tolerated.
Any attendees who breach moderation guidelines will be removed from the event. Any comments that breach our moderation guidelines will be deleted by organisers. If comments continue, then the attendee will be removed from the event and will not be permitted to book tickets for future events.
It is important to reiterate that this is not to censor individuals or prevent healthy debate, but to ensure that our events remain a safe space and that conversations remain relevant, and in the spirit of the event and our values.
Moderation guidelines apply to our online events, in person events, any any online spaces including social media.
